During her residency at Montclair
Academy Janet Austin received a “Learn About Your City”
grant from the City and County of Denver. The students, K-8,
were involved in scientific exploration and clean up of a
small creek near the school. Study of the riparian and grassland
ecosystems, and the native wildlife led to the creation of
a number of mosaic panels that were installed on the outside
walls of the school. Under her guidance the students were
involved in all aspects of the creation of these mosaics.
