reach for the stars / 2007

Lake Forest, IL
The 8th grade graduating class of 2007 chose the tree as a metaphor for growth; the roots of the tree represent the past with highlights of the students’ school experiences, while the branches reaching for the stars represent the future. A highlight of the 2007 spring was the emergence of the 17-year cicada which was immortalized in tiles on the tree’s trunk.
